Insulin Resistance and Weight Loss



Insulin Resistances is a combination of body functions that interfere with one's ability to lose weight and fight food cravings.

It is the leading cause of the yo-yo diet problem and the reason why so many people fail to control their weight.It is also Know as insulin resistance.
Scientific evidence has now concluded that obesity is the number one contributor when it comes to heart disease,diabetes and cancer.Symptoms associated with those diseases can be greatly reduced with weight loss.Some diseases have been known to go into remission with just weight control and proper nutrition.

The good news with this disease is that not everyone who shows signs consistent with insulin resistance will develop diabetes. The bad news is the fact that individuals with  Insulin resistance are a higher risk of accelerated aging and premature death even if they never develop diabetes.

Step one on your journey to good health is to set a short-term goal for yourself. You can do this on your own but can also get help from your doctor or a good Weight loss consultant. A good goal when starting to lose weight is to take a small percentage of your overall weight and aim to lose that much in your time frame. For instance, if you weigh 200 pounds aim to lose weight 5% of your body weight to begin (10 pounds). When you lose weight as a diabetic you are helping your body by lessening your insulin requirements. Weight loss will assist you in keeping your blood sugar levels under control.Keeping your blood sugar under control will assist you in controlling weight.

Another approach to weight loss if you are experiencing insulin resistances is physical activity and exercise. Getting your body moving will increase your metabolism and that act will assist in losing weight too. Not only will increase metabolism aid in weight loss, it will also help in controlling blood glucose levels. Your body will be processing food more efficiently.

Diet and exercise go hand-in-hand with weight loss. It also takes patience and time but as you begin the road to weight loss the benefits you will derive as a diabetic will begin right away. And as you reach your goal weight you will gain better Control of your blood sugar. If you are having difficulty losing weight on your own, speak to your doctor about other options that are available to you such as medication or possibly surgery.

Don't exercise to try to burn off calories and lose weight. you're not likely to spend enough time exercising strenuously enough to make much of a difference. Exercise will help you lose weight in more subtle ways. Regular exercise increases your rate of metabolism: the number of calories you burn all the time. Plus, for many people, exercise actually reduces appetite.

The researchers found that circuit weight training was responsible for improvements in blood sugar control and that these improvements were directly related to weight training. This study also showed that increases in muscle mass from strength training are important in the management of the disease, as well as decreasing the risk associated with diabetes.

Try to focus on foods that have a lower G.I., and limit carbohydrates. Eating mostly vegetables, fruit, lean protein, healthy fats and whole grains will help keep glucose levels down. A diet of this type is sometimes called The Mediterranean Diet.It will also help control insulin resistance.

Along with modifying one's diet to decrease glucose levels, increasing regular exercise is highly recommended. Proper diet and exercise can keep our weight in a healthy range which is crucial, as overweight and obese people are much more likely to develop issues with their blood sugar. There are also medications to lower blood sugar when healthy lifestyle changes aren't enough. Your doctor may prescribe oral diabetes drugs if you are deemed to be at an especially high risk of developing the disease.
